GRP Australia were involved in the upgrade of the Southbank Cultural Centre Riverwalk. The Riverwalk is a high traffic public walkway running along the river for the length of the Cultural Centre. This section of boardwalk was in need of remedial works including a full deck replacement. To reduce the impact of the closure, GRP Australia proposed to pre-fabricate the replacement GRP deck panels to fit the existing sub-structure resulting in a shorter close period.
The Orion survey team was engaged to provide a Terrestrial LiDAR scan and model of the existing structure to allow the design team to accurately detail each panel. The team also captured imagery of the sub-structure using our spherical camera technology, providing designers with valuable information of beam configuration, sizing and fixings which helped eliminate clashes when laying the prefabricated GRP deck panels.
