Engineering Surveys
Orion Spatial Solutions have a reputation for delivering the most efficient and effective surveying services. We have extensive history across building and civil construction projects, delivering accurate, quality solutions, on-time and on-budget.
Engineering Surveys are typically required for the design and construction of building and civil construction projects such as;
- Buildings
- Railways
- Roads
- Tunnels
- Bridges
- Pipelines
- Earthworks
- Monitoring of Structures
Our highly experienced team coupled with our efficient systems and cutting-edge equipment, enables us to tackle projects of all sizes and complexities and provide engineering survey services that exceed our client’s needs.
Our engineering surveying expertise includes;
Topographical and Detail Surveys
For the purpose of creating a 3D representation of the topography of a site and locating existing features such as buildings, site improvements, services, vegetation and roads. These surveys generally form the base of planning and design phases for development site.
Building Construction
Involves accurate positioning of survey control marks, shoring and piling systems, building corners, grid lines, slab edges, structural columns/walls and service risers to meet construction methods. Our experience includes setout services for residential dwellings, duplexes, townhouse developments, industrial and commercial developments, mixed-use developments and high-rise buildings.
Civil Construction
Involves accurate setout for construction of land developments, roads, motorways, rail, bridges, tunnels and underground services. This work generally involves as-constructed surveys and conformance reporting of final constructed structure/surface/feature.
As-constructed Surveys & ADAC
Is the capture of location and specification of newly constructed roads, services and structures to compare against construction issue design for compliance. Australia Asset Design and As Constructed, known as ADAC, is a standard adopted by Local Councils for processing and presenting as-constructed data. Local Councils require ADAC submissions to be lodged as part of Operational Works Approvals for new land developments and infrastructure projects. Knowledge of ADAC and its processes, can be crucial to a project as practical completion or ‘on maintenance’ approvals cannot be gained unless the ADAC submission is approved by the Local Council. We have extensive experience conducting as-constructed surveys and ADAC submissions for Master Planned Land Developments and Infrastructure projects.
Monitoring Surveys
Environmental factors such as temperature, wind, moisture content and structural forces can cause unexpected change in a structure such as buildings, bridges, tunnels, harbour walls, dams, railways and revetment walls. Monitoring surveying involves precise measurement of objects and analysis over time to determine if any compression, torsion, shear and tension forces or lateral or settlement movements are impacting a structure. Coupling Automated Total Station measurement with installation of inclinometers, extensometers and vibration and tilt sensors, real-time monitoring reporting can be provided during high-risk construction activities or for long-period observation. Monitoring Surveys can help mitigate the risk of damage to existing structures during high-risk construction projects or analyse the structural integrity of asset over time, helping asset owners formulate maintenance programs or structural repairs.
